New York: IID Thrown at Individual, 1 Arrested

On 4 April 2023, a suspect threw an improvised incendiary device (IID), described as a Molotov cocktail, at an individual and attempted to set the individual on fire. No further device or incident details have been released. On 5 April, Jamestown Police Department officers attempted to conduct a warrant check at the 33-year-old male suspect’s residence on Winsor Street, but the suspect fled and was later arrested. The suspect is facing charges of criminal possession of a weapon and attempted assault, among other charges.

Ecuador: IED Functioned Outside Hotel

Italy: Explosives Used in ATM Attack

On 5 April 2023, at approximately 0400 hours local time, local Carabinieri responded to the post office on Via Santa Maria La Stella in Stornara after unknown suspects used explosives to attack the post office ATM and fled the scene with an estimated 25,000 euros [~$27,276]. No further device details have been released. The explosion destroyed the ATM and scattered debris across the street, but no injuries were reported. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage in the ongoing investigation.

Somalia: Military Ordnance Used in Mall Attack

On 2 April 2023, at approximately 0200 hours local time, Lewis and Clark County Sheriff’s Office (LCCSO) deputies responded to a Law and Justice Center on Fuller Avenue after an unidentified suspect threw an improvised incendiary device (IID), described as a Molotov cocktail, at an LCCSO vehicle. No further device details have been released and no injuries were reported. Surveillance footage captured a male throwing the IID at the vehicle and using a crowbar to beat the passenger door. ATF responded to assist in the ongoing investigation.
