Nebraska: Functioned Pyrotechnic Causes Forest Fire
On 19 March 2024, at approximately 1515 hours local time, personnel from the Pilger, Wisner, Beemer, and Stanton Volunteer Fire and Rescue Departments responded to the Pilger Recreation Area in Stanton County for a report of a fire. Stanton County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) deputies were near the scene at the time and reported that a couple had functioned a pyrotechnic device that started a small fire. The couple attempted to extinguish the flames but were unsuccessful, and the fire eventually spread to a quarter-mile to half-mile-wide blaze.
