On 16 October 2024, at approximately 0250 hours local time, Kern County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) deputies responded to the 16000 block of Highway 14 in Mojave for a report of a discharged firearm. At the scene, deputies learned that a 57-year-old male suspect had allegedly discharged a shotgun and was a suspect in another unrelated shooting, leading them to obtain a search warrant for his home.
On 19 October 2024, at approximately 1550 hours local time, the Kaysville Police Department (KPD) responded to Endeavour Elementary School in Kaysville after receiving reports of a suspicious device on the southeast side of the campus. Deputies investigated the suspicious device, described as a “homemade firework or pipe bomb device,” and called the Davis County Bomb Squad for assistance. Bomb squad technicians responded, disposed of the IED via controlled detonation, and collected the remnants of the device for further examination. No further device details have been released.
On 16 October 2024, several unspecified explosive devices, firearms, cans of ammunition, and body armor were found inside a box truck that was impounded at the Gillespie County Sheriff's Office’s (GCSO) impound lot in Fredericksburg. The San Antonio Police Department Bomb Squad, ATF, and FBI were called to assist. Several of the unspecified explosive devices were deemed too hazardous to transport and were disposed of via controlled detonations, while others were rendered safe without incident. The truck had been impounded after GCSO deputies arrested the driver along U.S.
On 20 October 2024, the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office, Hartshorne Police Department, and Hartshorne Fire Department responded to a residence north of Hartshorne following a reported explosion. Upon arrival, officers discovered a “very large homemade explosives laboratory,” which included “large amounts of bulk powders and precursors.” Narcotics were also discovered at the scene. ATF agents and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Bomb Squad were called to the scene and assisted with the processing and disposal of the materials.
On 17 October 2024, at approximately 1330 hours local time, Clarke County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to a residential area near Basstown Road in Stonewall for reports of an altercation. One person was injured and transported to the hospital for treatment. At the scene, deputies discovered a suspected explosive device and weapons and called the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation, Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, and Mississippi Office of Homeland Security for assistance.
On 17 October 2024, at approximately 0420 hours local time, Greenwood Police Department officers responded to a residence on the 200 block of Clayton Lane in Greenwood after an unknown suspect threw an improvised incendiary device (IID), described as a Molotov cocktail, against the garage, igniting a fire. The homeowner was able to extinguish the fire without incident. No injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.

On 22 October 2024, media sources reported that on 26 September 2024, Homeland Security investigators and ATF agents discovered at least 4 IEDs, over 100 firearms, and thousands of rounds of ammunition at a home in Urbana during an investigation. From July to September 2024, investigators intercepted or observed packages of firearm components that were delivered to the 44-year-old male suspect’s bike business. Authorities obtained a search warrant for the suspect’s home, where they discovered four IEDs made from tiki torch containers with red fuses.
On 18 October 2024, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, FBI, and Buckeye and Glendale Police Departments assisted in the arrest of a 17-year-old male suspect at his home in Peoria for allegedly plotting an ISIS-inspired attack against the Phoenix Pride Parade using an explosive-laden radio-controlled car.
On 6 October 2024, Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) deputies and White Sulphur Springs EMS responded to a gas station near the Sam Black Church exit off I-64 in Greenbrier County after receiving reports of a man with an abdominal injury. The individual provided law enforcement with inconsistent information on the nature of their injury, claiming it was the result of a 4-wheeler accident on the James River Kanawha Turnpike. At the scene where the injury occurred, authorities discovered that the injured individual accidentally functioned an unspecified explosive device.
On 8 October 2024, at approximately 0400 hours local time, Vancouver Police Department (VPD) officers and local firefighters responded following a report of smoke seen coming from a ballot box near W 13th and Esther Streets in Vancouver. At the scene, authorities found a suspicious device nearby and noticeable scorching on the ballot box. VPD’s Metro Explosive Disposal Unit responded to the scene to assist, and bomb technicians removed the device from the area.
