Hawaii: Explosive Device Discovered During Police Standoff, 1 Arrested
On 24 August 2024, at approximately 2200 hours local time, Honolulu Police Department (HPD) officers responded to a residence on Koolani Drive in Mililani Mauka, after a neighbor reported seeing the suspect carrying an improvised incendiary device (IID), described as a Molotov cocktail. Upon the arrival of HPD officers, the suspect barricaded himself inside his house and refused to exit. Officers checked the outside of the home and discovered an unspecified explosive device that had been ignited and was still smoldering.
