On 22 August 2024, at approximately 1030 hours local time, Baldwin Park Police Department officers and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad technicians responded to Los Angeles Street in Baldwin Park after four hand grenades were found on a sidewalk next to a tree. Bomb squad technicians rendered the devices safe before removing them for later disposal. It is unclear who owns the devices and how they appeared on the ground.

On 8 August 2024, Tyler County Sheriff’s Office deputies, Texas Department of Public Safety personnel, and ATF agents discovered bomb-making material (BMM) and a drug lab while searching a home in Fred. Authorities found a threaded pipe and gunpowder, guns, 30 pounds of suspected marijuana, 147 grams of suspected psychedelic mushrooms, and several trash bags full of prescription pills, among other drugs. Two suspects, a 37-year-old man and woman, were arrested on drug charges. 

On 9 August 2024, at approximately 2309 hours local time, Streetsboro Police Department officers responded to a park in Streetsboro after a nearby resident heard an explosion and reported hearing similar explosions on three other occasions. Police officers discovered the remains of several plastic containers and an intact plastic jug filled with an unknown liquid in the parking lot. Initial evaluations by investigators determined that the devices were chemical overpressure devices described as “Drano bombs.” Two additional devices that had not yet functioned were also found.

On 15 August 2024, at approximately 1343 hours local time, a man was seen on camera walking up to an SUV parked at a U.S. Post Office in the 17300 block of Harper Avenue in Detroit, breaking the window, and placing an explosive device inside the vehicle. The suspect functioned the device and was thrown against an adjacent vehicle by the resulting explosion. The suspect fled the scene and was seen in camera footage as having sustained visible injuries. The explosion ignited a fire that burned four vehicles and damaged six.

On the evening of 16 August 2024, Adair County police officers discovered pyrotechnics with metal projectiles attached to them, drug paraphernalia, illegal firearms, and a hit list targeting local law enforcement officers while searching a home in the 500 block of South Harrison Street in Stuart. The search followed several reports of an unidentified suspect launching explosive devices, described as “hard metal projectiles” attached to pyrotechnics, at a home, causing considerable damage.
