California: Explosion at Biscailuz Center Academy Training Facility Kills Three Deputies

Three Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies died in an explosion next to a bomb squad vehicle at the Biscailuz Center Academy Training facility on North Eastern Avenue. The deputies, all members of the Sherrif’s Department Bomb Squad, were handling explosive materials from a previous response when the incident occurred. Reports indicate they were examining grenades, believed to be inert, when the explosion occurred. The Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, ATF, and FBI are investigating.

California: Follow-up Investigation Leads to IED Discovery

On 16 July 2025, Southwest Sheriff’s Station deputies conducted a follow-up investigation following the 8 June 2025 arrest of a 38-year-old suspect for allegedly driving a stolen vehicle. During the search of the suspects home, deputies found dozens of illegal firearms, ammunition, bomb-making materials, and improvised explosive devices in various stages of being manufactured. The Riverside Sheriff’s Hazardous Device Team responded and seized the devices. Charges were filed against the suspect for weapons possession, criminal threats, and bomb-making materials.

Georgia: Police Discover 23 Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) During Investigation: One Arrested

On 15 July 2025, a 56-year-old male was arrested and charged with 23 counts of possessing, manufacturing, or distributing explosive devices after the Rome Police Department executed a search warrant at a commercial facility. Upon discovering homemade explosive devices at the facility, the State Fire Marshal’s Office, the Floyd County Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were called in to provide additional assistance. Additional information has not been released regarding the IEDs.

Georgia: Police Discover 10 Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) During Investigation: One Arrested

On 16 July 2025, a 64-year-old male was arrested and charged with 10 counts of possession of an explosive device after police executed a search warrant at the suspect’s home and found explosive devices and explosive manufacturing materials. According to officials, the devices were unstable and sensitive, and were detonated in a controlled environment by the Floyd County Bomb Squad. Additional information has not been released regarding the IEDs.

Minnesota: Multiple Improvised Explosive Devices Emplaced for First Responders

On 15 July 2025, at approximately 0920 hours local time, St. Louis County Deputies responded to 911 reports of a man in Normanna Township who was setting fire to his neighbor’s houses using a modified riding lawnmower with a fuel tank mounted on the back. A responding volunteer fire fighter who was attempting to extinguish the fires also claimed he was allegedly being shot at by the suspect. Once on scene, five St. Louis County Deputies came under fire from the suspect, forcing the deputies to discharge their weapons to neutralize the threat.

Awareness: California: Suspicious Item at Rail Station Determined to be a Geocache

On 29 July at approximately 1000 local time, Campbell Police and the Santa Clara Sherrif’s Office responded to the Valley Transportation Authority Light Rail Station on Winchester Boulevard for reports of a suspicious package, which prompted the evacuation of the station, as well as nearby schools and businesses. A bomb squad responded and determined the suspicious item was not a threat. At approximately 1345 local time, the sheriff's office said on social media the suspicious package was a "geocache - a container used in a GPS-based treasure hunt game."

Texas: Teen Arrested for Allegedly Plotting Fourth of July Terror Attack

On 2 July 2025, an 18-year-old male was arrested for allegedly plotting a terrorist attack during the July 4th celebration parade in Canyon, Texas. The suspect was allegedly planning to use the highly sensitive explosive Hexamethylene Triperoxide Diamine (HMTD) along with a firearm; however, he was unable to successfully purchase the firearm.

Missouri: Man arrested in Camden County after police pursuit on motorcycle reveals suspected IEDs

On 5 July 2025, the Camden County Sheriff's Office arrested a man after he fled from a traffic stop on a motorcycle and was found with suspected homemade explosive devices. Per news reports, the suspect’s backpack contained two homemade fireworks according to a probable cause statement.>Deputies stated that the devices were very heavy, contained several small metal balls, and were wrapped in notebook paper with a green fuse poking out of each.

Pennsylvania: Improvised explosive devices found in home of man arrested at rally in West Chester; One Arrested

A man accused of carrying weapons at a rally in West Chester on Saturday is facing additional charges after pipe bombs were allegedly found in his home on June 16, 2025. Police state they found 13 improvised explosive devices, several sketches of explosive devices, tactical vests, and other items in his garage while executing a search warrant at his home. The Montgomery County bomb squad moved the bombs to a secure area.
