California: Pipe Bomb Discovered by Hikers on Bureau of Land Management Trail
On 6 August 2025, the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad was requested to investigate a suspected pipe bomb that was discovered near a trail in Weaverville by Trinity County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) deputies. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad confirmed the pipe bomb was a viable IED and worked quickly to render it safe. TCSO deputies searched the area for additional devices with negative results. The United States Bureau of Land Management is conducting an investigation to determine the origin of the device.
