Texas: Pipe Bomb Discovered on Abandoned Bicycle in Residential Area

On 13 September 2025, the Lacy Lakeview Police Department evacuated and secured the 200 block of West Craven Avenue in Lacy Lakeview for the discovery of a suspicious device.  The McLennan County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad was called in, and the hazardous devices technicians determined the device was a pipe bomb that was attached to an abandoned bicycle.  The pipe bomb was safely transported away from the residential area to be destroyed.  The incident is under investigation by the Lacy Lakeview Police and McLennan County Sheriff’s Office.

Utah: Failed Incendiary Device Found Under News Vehicle, Explosives Recovered at Suspects’ Residence, Two Arrested

On 12 September 2025, a suspicious device was found underneath a news media vehicle in Salt Lake City, Utah next to an occupied building.  Police and fire department bomb squads responded.  The investigation determined that an incendiary device had been ignited, but "failed to function." On 13 September 2025, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Salt Lake City Police Bomb Squad, and Unified Fire Authority Arson/Bomb squad served a warrant on a suspected residence in Magna, Utah, evacuating neighborhood residents.

Arizona: Routine Security Check Finds Possible IED Near Yuma Detention Center

On 12 September 2025, at approximately 1732 hours, a routine security check was being conducted on the perimeter of Yuma County Detention Center in Yuma; a suspicious package was discovered near an electrical box. Per the news report, deputies stated that the item was designed to resemble a bomb, it was wrapped in duct tape, included handwritten threats, and was placed near an electrical box. The Yuma Regional Bomb Squad responded to the scene and stated the item had parts commonly found in improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Indiana: Four Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and Drugs Found in Private Residence, One Arrested

On 11 September 2025, the Indiana State Police executed a search warrant at a private residence on Indianola Avenue in Indianapolis, following a criminal incident that occurred on 21 August 2025, on I-495. During the search, law enforcement discovered four improvised explosive devices (IEDs), psilocybin mushrooms, and marijuana. The investigation revealed that the 19-year-old suspect had been manufacturing explosive devices at the residence. The Bomb Squad arrived at the scene and rendered it safe.

Washington: Pipe Bomb Discovered at Residence

On 9 September 2025, a pipe bomb was found in a residence in Bremerton following the death of the man who had recently lived there according to the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO). The KCSO called in the Washington State Patrol Interagency Bomb Squad, which X-rayed the device and determined it contained a powdered substance believed to be explosive.  The four-inch device was wrapped in tape and had a fuse on one end. The team collected the device and transported it for safe disposal.

Pennsylvania: 14 Explosive Devices Discovered at Residence, One Arrested

On 9 September 2025, 14 explosive devices of “varying capabilities” were discovered inside the safe of a residence in Millscreek Township by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Pennsylvania State Police, prompting evacuations in the area.  One device was described as having a wiring system capable of remote detonation.  A 40-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with possessing weapons of mass destruction, risking catastrophe, and recklessly endangering another person.

Pennsylvania: Incendiary and Explosive Devices Found in Property Owner’s Garage

On 7 September 2025, police responded to a residence on North Broad Mountain Avenue in Frackville after a tenant reported finding explosives inside a cabinet in the garage. When police arrived, they discovered a plastic container holding approximately seven incendiary devices, some of which had fuses attached and were wrapped with tape. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and Pennsylvania State Police Bomb Squad were called to the scene.

Alaska: Juvenile To Be Charged After Mortar Shell Found in Grocery Store Bathroom

On 6 September 2025 at approximately 1600 hours, the Fairbanks Police Department (FPD) received a report of a possible explosive device that was found in a bathroom at a grocery store on Airport Way in Fairbanks, prompting the store to be evacuated.  FPD officers and Fort Wainwright’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal team responded.  The device was identified as a “deactivated 81 mm mortar shell” and was safely removed for disposal.  A juvenile suspect was identified and will be charged with terroristic threatening.

Washington: Pipe Bomb Found in Vehicle, One Arrested

On 5 September 2025, Thurston County Sheriff Office deputies located a pipe bomb in a vehicle on Vail Road, south of Yelm.  The Washington State Patrol Bomb squad tested the device and confirmed it was a homemade pipe bomb.  The 43-year-old suspect in the vehicle was arrested for unlawful explosives and substance possession.

North Carolina: Search Warrant at Residence Leads to Discovery of Explosive Materials, One Arrested

On 4 September 2025, the Craven County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigation Bureau and the New Bern Police Department Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on Trenton Road in Cove City and discovered explosive materials.  The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was called in to assist.  The 64-year-old suspect has been charged with multiple felony charges, and more charges are expected.  The investigation is on-going.
