Oregon: Traffic Stop in Marion County leads to Discovery of Methamphetamine and Homemade Explosive Device

On 27 August 2025 at approximately 0245 hours, a traffic stop was conducted in Marion County, Oregon. During the stop, the Marion County Sheriff discovered a 36-year-old man in possession of approximately 5 grams of methamphetamine and a homemade explosive device. The Salem Police Bomb Squad successfully rendered the explosive device safe. The individual was arrested and now faces multiple charges.

Iowa: Explosive Device Found Near Apartment Complex with Close Proximity to Schools

On 27 August 2025, in Hudson, IA, an explosive device was found at an apartment complex. The location of the explosive device was just south of the Hudson High School and Middle School campus. To ensure safety of the students, the middle and high school either canceled or relocated their extracurricular activities. Waterloo Bomb Squad responded to the incident and rendered the scene safe.

Missouri: Traffic Stop: Uncovered Methamphetamine and Explosive Device

On 25 August 2025 at 1548 hours on Highway 19 and Auchly Road in Mexico, Missouri, a man was pulled over by an officer for erratic driving. During a search of the vehicle, a metal container with methamphetamine was discovered. Additionally, an explosive device was discovered, which court documents described as, "a green, hard plastic, with multi-color tape around it.

Oklahoma: Unpleasant Surprise for Homeowner, Previous Resident Leaves "Pipe Bomb"

On 25 August 2025, a homeowner in Glenpool removed what he believed to be a "pipe bomb" from his home and placed it in his vehicle. He contacted the Glenpool Police Department, which responded promptly and evacuated approximately ten nearby homes. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol's Bomb Disposal Squad arrived at the scene and determined that the "pipe bomb" was inert. The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives also responded and will continue the investigation. Efforts were made to contact the home's previous resident.

Vermont: Suspect Link Between Pipe Bomb Found at Colchester Job Site and Pipe Bombs Found at Burlington Apartment

On 24 August 2025, officials in Burlington, VT, responded to reports of a suspicious package at an apartment. Inside the apartment, police found what appeared to be two pipe bombs, along with substances they say may be chemicals that could be used to fashion additional explosive materials.   Individuals in the apartment complex were evacuated until the devices were removed safely from the apartment building.

Michigan: Woman Shot After Attempting to Throw Gasoline Explosive Device

On the morning of 22 August 2025, in Mecosta County, MI, a woman refused to leave private property, prompting the property owner to call the police. Mecosta County deputies responded to the scene and the woman attempted to throw a gasoline explosive device at the officers after allegedly refusing their commands and assaulting them. According to the sheriff’s office, when faced with an immediate threat, the deputies made a split-second decision to neutralize the danger, resulting in the woman being shot.

Once police responded to the scene, the suspect was detained and searched. During the search, deputies discovered the suspect allegedly had an IED in his possession. The Washington State Patrol Bomb Squad responded and secured the device.

Ohio: Man Arrested for Possession of Weapons and Improvised Explosive Devices

On 20 August 2025 at approximately 1830 hours, a 38-year-old man confronted by Baberton police was arrested for allegedly carrying a loaded weapon and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). Officers secured the weapon and isolated the IEDs while the Summit County Bomb Squad responded to secure the devices. The suspect was arrested and charged with weapons and drug charges. Additional information on the number and type of IEDs was not made available.

Texas: Reckless Driving Leads to Pipe Bomb Discovery

On 19 August 2025 at approximately 0100 hours, a suspect from Midland Texas was caught doing donuts in the parking lot of a local baseball field. After a pursuit, the suspect pulled over in front of a church. While searching the vehicle, officers discovered a plastic PVC cylinder with two metal bolts and a fuse. The suspect claimed it was a firework, but the Fire Marshal later confirmed it was a viable pipe bomb. The suspect was arrested and charged with reckless driving and possession of an improvised explosive device.
