Texas: Suspect involved in string of explosions, one arrested

Austin: On 16 December 2025, Austin Police executed a search and arrest warrant at a home in the 500 block of Lightsey Road, where investigators located multiple improvised explosive devices inside the residence and in a vehicle. A 49-year-old male suspect was booked on a charge of possession of a prohibited weapon – explosive device. The Austin Police Department believe the male was involved in a series of reported late-night explosions around Jones Road and the Blunn Creek greenbelt near St. Edward’s University starting in August 2025.

Arizona: Explosive material discovered in a vehicle after an acute crisis is managed in Apache Junction

Apache Junction: On 10 December 2025, in the afternoon, Apache Junction Police responded to a report of a distressed individual in crisis at an addiction treatment center in Apache Junction. After making contact and successfully de-escalating the situation, the individual disclosed the presence of dynamite in his vehicle. Mesa Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit was called to manage the explosives, which they removed safely. The subject was transported to a crisis care facility.

Pennsylvania: Search warrant leads to seizure of bomb-making materials, one arrested

Wilkes-Barre: On 21 December 2025, Wilkes-Barre Police, Luzerne County detectives, and agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) executed a search warrant at the home of a 24-year-old male suspect on Saint Clair Street in Wilkes-Barre pursuant to an investigation. During the search, investigators seized bomb-making materials, described as precursors used to make an explosive. The suspect was arrested. The suspect was charged with criminal attempts to possess or manufacture weapons of mass destruction, a felony.

Massachusetts: Possession of illegal incendiary devices and unlicensed weapons, one arrested

Salem: On 22 December 2025, a 42-year-old male suspect was arrested in his residence after a search of his Salem apartment. Investigators found illegal gun modifiers and bomb-making materials—including more than three dozen chemical materials, fuels and oxidizers, including flash powder. Prosecutors say the materials, either alone or in combination, could be used to make bombs or other chemical devices.

New York: Explosive materials and weapons seized from Newfield home, one arrested

Newfield: On 9 December 2025, a 48-year-old male suspect was arrested based on a search warrant served at his residence in the town of Newfield. The search warrant was issued by the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). During the search, deputies found 15 firearms, six handguns, one Uzi-style gun with a 50-round magazine, and two additional high-capacity magazines. Deputies also discovered items believed to be used in the construction of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

Texas: Man provides bomb-making materials and support to ISIS, one arrested

Dallas: On 22 December 2025, a 21-year-old male suspect was arrested at his home in Midlothian, after he met at a Dallas park and handed a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) undercover agent, whom he believed to be an Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) supporter, several explosive components for building bombs. The suspect explained to the agent how to mix the ingredients and surround them with nails, and he offered to send the undercover agent an instructional bomb-building video. Law enforcement agents arrested the suspect shortly after he left the meeting.

California: IED plot disrupted by FBI, bomb making materials discovered, four arrested

Lucerne Valley: On 15 December 2025, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) disclosed that they had disrupted a bombing plot by members of the Turtle Island Liberation Front (TILF) who allegedly planned to attack unspecified commercial business targets in Los Angeles with improvised explosive devices (IEDs) on New Year's Eve in Los Angeles, as well as Department of Homeland Security/Immigration and Customs Enforcement (DHS/ICE) agents and vehicles. The group reportedly planned to detonate pipe bombs using the cover of fireworks.

Minnesota: Bomb squad finds firework explosive compound at Duluth substance use treatment facility

Duluth: On 12 December 2025, at approximately 0840 local time, Duluth Police received a report of a possible explosive device—a bag initially believed to contain dynamite—at a substance use treatment facility. A bomb squad responded to the scene in the Endion neighborhood, and clients and staff were relocated to another secure location.  At 1145 local time, leaders with the Center for Alcohol and Drug Treatment (CADT) stated the possible explosive device was among a client’s personal belongings, who was unaware of its presence and had no intent to harm.

Mississippi: Brandon Police Respond to Molotov Cocktail Incident at Private Residence

Brandon: On 09 November 2025, at approximately 0026 local time, Brandon Police and Fire Departments responded to a home on Woodgate Drive in Brandon, following a report of an improvised incendiary device being used. The device was reportedly a molotov cocktail. The incident remains under investigation.

Pennsylvania: IED Detonation in College Dorm Room; No Injuries, One Arrested

Williamsport: On 25 November 2025, at approximately 1129 local time, an improvised explosive device (IED) detonated inside a dorm room at Pennsylvania College of Technology prompting a response by Penn College Police, Williamsport Bureau of Police and Fire, and the FBI. The device was initiated by a 19-year-old male suspect, who claimed he lit the fuse unintentionally but was unable to put it out. The suspect reported the device was built from dismantled fireworks, duct tape, and zip ties that were crushed with a hammer and repackaged.
