On 15 June 2024, at approximately 0230 hours local time, two improvised incendiary devices (IID), described as Molotov cocktails, were thrown through the window of a rowhouse apartment on South Green Street in Bridgeport, Chicago, starting a fire. Chicago Fire Department crews responded to the apartment and quickly extinguished the blaze. A 54-year-old woman was killed in the fire and her granddaughter was taken to a local hospital for injuries.
