United Kingdom: IIDs and Pyrotechnics Thrown at Police During Civil Unrest, 10 Injured
On 10 August 2024, protestors threw improvised incendiary devices (IIDs), pyrotechnics, and rocks at Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) officers in Nailors Row in Londonderry, Northern Ireland, after a parade. Video footage captured a crowd, including juveniles functioning and throwing IIDs, described as Molotov cocktails, at police vehicles. At least 10 police officers were injured during the protests, and some residents evacuated their homes. A 46-year-old man was arrested and charged with disorderly behavior.
