Los Angeles: On 23 November 2025, the Los Angeles Police Department bomb squad responded to a residence after a homeowner’s friend identified two World War I-era grenades and one World War II-era grenade during a walkthrough of the property. A specialized unit with the bomb squad and a U.S. Army team safely removed the ordnance.
San Jose: On 19 November 2025, during an operation targeting gang activity, San Jose Police executed arrest and search warrants for a 20-year-old male and two juveniles, and found a loaded firearm, a large quantity of narcotics and two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) at the 20-year-old males’ residence in San Jose, California. A bomb squad took the devices and rendered them safe. Police said they coordinated with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the FBI, and the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
Ephrata: On 20 November 2025, the Ephrata Police Department and Washington State Police (WSP) bomb squad responded to a construction storage yard after blasting caps were found in a storage container at the site. Upon inspection by a member of the bomb squad, the items were positively identified as explosive devices. WSP bomb squad rendered the explosive devices safe with a controlled detonation. No additional reporting on how the explosive devices came to be stored or placed at that site were provided.
Medway: On 11 November 2025, explosive materials, believed to have been used in railroad operations, were found at the home of a retired railroad worker; a collector of historic railroad items in Medway. The Medway Fire Department and Medway Police Department investigated the report of the potential hazard. The Massachusetts State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad were notified and responded. The Bomb Squad safely removed the materials, took them to a secure location, and conducted a controlled detonation.
On 31 October 2025, at approximately 1600 hours, a 15-year-old male suspect was arrested in Collier County for allegedly threatening to use a homemade explosive during Halloween trick-or-treating on his social media account. A search of the suspect’s residence by the Collier County Bomb Squad identified bomb-making materials. The FBI also joined the investigation. The suspect has been charged with manufacturing an explosive device with the intent to harm, possessing a destructive device, and making electronic threats to do bodily injury.
On 31 October 2025, Crawford County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a 55-year-old male suspect after he barricaded himself in a bedroom during a compliance check in Palestine. During a search of the residence, deputies identified a suspected homemade bomb, bomb-making materials, drugs, and drug paraphernalia.
On 29 October 2025, at around 1100 hours, San Joaquin County Sheriff’s deputies watched two men in an area associated with a recent string of robberies. Deputies detained the two a short distance away near Sierra Nevada and Park Street in Stockton and found that one of them was wearing a bulletproof vest, dropped a firearm during the chase and had an explosive device in his possession. The other had a black crossbody bag with him, which contained a firearm and multiple bags of narcotics.
On 28 October 2025, the Marina Police Department and FBI conducted search warrants at two residences tied to a suspect in Marina and Pacific Grove and discovered: bomb-making materials, two “ghost gun” handguns and two “ghost” AR-15 rifles in the process of being manufactured, firearm parts and a 3d printer, ammunition, and legally purchased firearms. The bomb-making materials were described as chemicals and components to manufacture improvised explosive materials/devices.
On 27 October 2025, in the morning hours, Cal Fire personnel discovered several items, including explosives, while serving a search warrant in East Los Angeles during the investigation of a deadly explosion that occurred on July 1st at a fireworks facility in Esparto, CA. The warrant was a joint operation involving the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department bomb squad, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; the Office of the State Fire Marshal and at least one agency from Yolo County.
On 24 October 2025, the North Middleton Police Department, along with Pennsylvania State Police and the FBI, began investigating after a coworker reportedly expressed concerns to police that his colleague was building explosives, according to an affidavit filed Oct. 25.
