North Carolina: Search Warrant at Residence Leads to Discovery of Explosive Materials, One Arrested

On 4 September 2025, the Craven County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigation Bureau and the New Bern Police Department Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on Trenton Road in Cove City and discovered explosive materials.  The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives was called in to assist.  The 64-year-old suspect has been charged with multiple felony charges, and more charges are expected.  The investigation is on-going.

Massachusetts: ATM Explosion in Woburn

On 4 September 2025 at approximately 0900, the Woburn Police responded to a bank located on Mishawum Road in Woburn after receiving a report of a prior tampering of the exterior of an Automated Teller Machine (ATM).  Upon arrival, officers discovered the drive through ATM sustained damage from what appeared to be the result of an unknown destructive device or a pipe bomb. The Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Boston’s special agent bomb technicians also responded to the scene.

Indiana: Suspected Explosive Devices Found in Residence of Alleged Shooter

On 3 September 2025, several suspected explosive devices were located during the execution of a search warrant at the residence of an alleged shooter in Santa Claus. Indiana State Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal was called to the scene and safely disposed of the devices. The 47-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with five counts of possession of a destructive device, criminal recklessness with a firearm, and pointing a loaded firearm.

Missouri: Traffic Stop Uncovers Drugs and Explosive Devices, One Arrested

On 3 September 2025, at approximately 0200 hours, a 51-year-old suspect from Kansas City, was pulled over during a routine traffic stop on Interstate 49 near Archie. Deputies in Cass County discovered homemade explosives and illegal drugs in the vehicle. The Lee's Summit Bomb Squad was called to the scene, safely detonated the explosive devices and ensured the area was secure. The suspect is now facing multiple charges related to the incident.

Washington: Pipe Bomb Found in Vehicle of Driver Eluding Police, One Arrested

On 2 September 2025 at approximately 0250 hours, Kent Police executed a search warrant on a vehicle alleged to have eluded police from Kent to SeaTac, where they discovered a homemade pipe bomb.  The device was disposed of by the Seattle Police Department Bomb Squad.  A 26-year-old suspect was arrested.

Washington: Gas Station Altercation Leads to Discovery of Person-Borne IED (PBIED) Device, One Arrested

On 2 September 2025, the Thurston County Sheriff's Department responded to a report of a suspicious individual at a gas station off HWY-12, located in Rochester. Upon arrival, deputies encountered a 31-year-old suspect lying on the ground. During the interaction, an altercation occurred, leading to the suspect's arrest. A subsequent search of the suspect revealed a Person-Borne IED (PBIED) potential explosive device, described as a taped cylindrical object with a visible fuse. The Washington State Patrol Bomb Squad was called to the scene and successfully rendered the device safe.

Arizona: Improvised Explosive Device Recovered in Storage Unit, Incendiary Devices Recovered in Residence, Two Arrested

On 28 August 2025 at approximately 0730 hours, the Camp Verde Marshal’s Office, in coordination with the Verde Valley Regional SWAT Team, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and Arizona Department of Public Safety Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence in an RV resort located on Middle Verde Road in Camp Verde and located numerous firearms, firearm-building materials, manuals for constructing explosives, firearm suppressors and incendiary devices.

Mississippi: Hoax Device Emplaced Near Downtown Renovation Site

On 6 August 2025, the Tupelo Police Bomb Squad responded to investigate a possible improvised explosive device (IED) in Boonville. A construction worker noticed a suspicious device located on an air conditioning unit near a building being renovated. The Tupelo Police Bomb Squad conducted diagnostic procedures on the suspected IED and determined it was a hoax device. The investigation was turned over to local authorities to determine who placed the device and what charges they may face.

New Jersey: Crowd Shoots Fireworks at Police Officers at Street Takeover

On 31 August 2025 at approximately 0231 hours, the Secaucus Police received a report that over 100 vehicles “took over” the intersection of Secaucus Road and County Avenue and were driving recklessly.  Upon the arrival of the Secaucus Police, over 50 people began to surround the officers’ vehicles, while others climbed on top of the marked police units causing damage. People in the crowd then shot fireworks at and under the marked police vehicles.  Officers from several surrounding departments assisted to help disperse the crowds, including Weehawken, North Bergen, Hobo

Kansas: Newton Incident: False Alarm Leads to Discovery of Explosive Device

On 28 August 2025, at approximately 0520 hours, law enforcement officers responded to a "shots fired" call in the 1500 block of North Anderson, Newton, Kansas, but found no evidence. Later that morning, at approximately 1025 hours, a cyclist reported discovering remnants of an explosive device in the same vicinity. Emergency response teams, including the Newton Police, Fire, EMS, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and Kansas State Fire Marshall’s Office. ATF took possession of the device for further investigation.
