California: IED discovered in residence of suspect rendered safe by Bomb Task Force, One Arrested

On 17 October 2025, at approximately 0300 hours, San Luis Obispo Sheriff's Office (SLOSO) conducted a traffic stop in Arroyo Grande during which drugs, drug paraphernalia, and firearms were recovered. Pursuant to the investigation following the stop, SLOSO deputies executed a search warrant on the male suspect's residence where they recovered an improvised explosive device, additional firearms, and drugs. SLOSO Bomb Task Force rendered safe the device. There were no details on the construction of the device provided; investigation is ongoing.

Michigan: Suspect Faces Charges Related to Possession of Molotov cocktails

On 16 October 2025, Michigan State Police (MSP) pulled over a vehicle northbound on US-131 and Hall Street in Kent County for operating an unregistered vehicle and found four Molotov cocktails in the 52-year-old male suspect’s trunk. All four jars had strips of cloth on the outside of the jars, held by elastic bands, which created an improvised Molotov cocktail per the news report. As reported, the liquid was tested, and was positive for gasoline and ethanol, which are flammable, incendiary substances. MSP arrested the suspect on charges of preparation to burn property.

North Carolina: Suspect Arrested After Bomb-Making Materials and Homemade Explosive Devices Found at Residence

On 14 October 2025, 2025, King Police Department arrested a 72-year-old male suspect following a search of his residence in Walnut Cove pursuant to an investigation into other charges. During the search, officers discovered bomb-making materials, homemade explosive devices, ammunition, and various firearms at the residence. The Winston-Salem Police Department Bomb Squad responded and removed the explosive devices and materials and gave the all clear. The suspect faces charges of possession of a weapon of mass destruction.

New Jersey: Fireworks and Explosive Devices Found in Residence

On 14 October 2025, explosive devices and fireworks were found in an Allendale home. The bomb squad destroyed them at Crestwood Park in a controlled detonation. Authorities closed and secured the park beforehand. The town's social media post did not specify what the explosive devices were. An investigation into the residence where the explosives were found is ongoing.

California: Former student Allegedly Stabs Three and Places Incendiary Devices in Torrance

On 14 October 2025, at approximately 0815 hours, a former student at a private school in Torrance allegedly stabbed three staff members and attempted to stab a fourth before being taken into custody. While in custody, the male suspect disclosed he placed two pipe bombs in the vicinity of 208th Street and Amapola Avenue. Two devices were located, and they were determined to be incendiary devices, which were rendered safe by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Bomb Squad.

Washington: Port of Seattle Bomb Squad Render Safe IED After It Is Brought to Police Station

On 14 October 2025, at approximately 1058 hours, the Kent Police Department was evacuated after a "private individual" brought a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) into the station in Kent. The individual reported they discovered the IED in a backpack placed near the Green River. The Port of Seattle Bomb Squad assessed the device and determined that the device was homemade and potentially active, so they initiated procedures to render safe the device.

California: IED discovered in Residence, One Arrested

On 13 Oct 2025, at approximately 1345 hours, the Susanville Police Department responded to a call for service in the area of Campbell Road in Susanville.  During the course of the investigation, officers discovered an improvised explosive device (IED) in a residence. The Washoe County Consolidated Bomb Squad rendered the IED safe.  A 45-year-old male suspect was arrested and faces multiple charges related to this incident.

Washington: Pipe Bomb Discovered on Roadway Shoulder in Chinook

On 12 October 2025, the Pacific County Sheriff's Office discovered a pipe bomb after a community member reported finding a homemade explosive device in Chinook on the side of a road. The Washington State Patrol Bomb Squad removed the device from the scene. The incident is under investigation.

Nevada: Explosive Devices Recovered at Residence, One Arrested

On 12 October 2025, at approximately 1407, Carson City Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 1400 block of North Carson Street in Carson City for a report of a small explosion and dispute, where a 65-year-old male suspect allegedly detonated a small explosive device, described as being like an “M80,” in the parking lot of the apartment complex. When confronted by Deputies, the suspect allegedly stated he had additional “bombs” in his room and threatened to throw one at a tenant.  The suspect was arrested and charged with Possession of an Explosive Device and obstructing a Peac

Washington: Three Explosives Found after Suspects Elude Police, Two Arrested

On 12 October 2025 at approximately 1035 hours, the Bellevue Police Department (BPD) responded to the 3500 block of 108th Ave in Bellevue after receiving reports of a car, previously reported stolen, in a parking lot with both the driver and a passenger sleeping inside. The officers noticed the men had drugs in their possession and woke the driver, who fled the scene in the vehicle. The passenger attempted to flee the vehicle while traveling on the interstate, but police quickly apprehended him.
