On 24 October 2025, the North Middleton Police Department, along with Pennsylvania State Police and the FBI, began investigating after a coworker reportedly expressed concerns to police that his colleague was building explosives, according to an affidavit filed Oct. 25.

Idaho: Caldwell, ID Resident Found in Possession of Multiple IEDs: One Arrested

On 23 October 2025, Caldwell Police Department conducted a search warrant at a residence in Caldwell, and discovered multiple explosive devices, prompting a response from an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit with the National Guard. The devices were determined to be “extremely volatile and unsafe.” The 67-year-old male suspect was also in possession of drugs.

Delaware: State Police Discover IED and drugs during Welfare Check

On 22 October 2025, Delaware State Police conducted a welfare check on a 39-year-old male suspect sleeping in his truck in Dover. During the check, they found suspected drugs in plain sight and upon further search found additional suspected drugs and an IED. Delaware State Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit and the Delaware State Fire Marshal responded and rendered the device safe.  The suspect was arrested and charged with possession of drugs and possession of an explosive device.

Wyoming: State Capitol Evacuated for Suspicious Package Deemed Pyrotechnic Device

On 21 October 2025, at approximately 0945 hours, the Wyoming State Capitol in Cheyenne was evacuated after a concerned citizen found a suspicious package outside the building and brought it inside to a staff member. The Wyoming Highway Patrol and a joint bomb squad comprised of the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) and the Cheyenne Police Department responded with an LCSO K9 unit. The incident drew responding units from the Wyoming DCI (Division of Criminal Investigation), Cheyenne Fire & Rescue, American Medical Response (AMR), FBI, ATF, and DHS.

Minnesota: Two Suspects Arrested After Search of Property Results in IED Discovery

On 21 October 2025, two male suspects were arrested by the Sherburne County Sheriff's Office after they were pulled over following an explosion investigation in Big Lake Township. The suspects claimed they had been throwing fireworks; however, a search of the vehicle uncovered a propane torch and several bags with ingredients the deputy recognized as an explosive mixture.

Ohio: An Improvised Explosive Device Found at Property, One Arrested

On 21 October 2025, a male suspect was arrested following a drug and theft investigation led by the Columbiana County Drug Task Force (CCDTF) and local law enforcement. After the arrest, agents executed a search warrant at a home on Pittsburgh Street in Columbiana. Authorities recovered methamphetamine, three handguns, drug paraphernalia, and an improvised explosive device on the property. The Youngstown Bomb Squad safely removed the device.

California: Explosive Devices Seized During Search of Residence, One Arrested

On 20 October 2025, the Modesto Narcotics Enforcement Team and Stanislaus County Probation Department served a search warrant at a residence across the street from Somerset Middle School in Modesto. In the search of the property, several loaded firearms, ammunition, and two explosive devices were seized.

Michigan: Explosion Report Leads to Discovery of Two IEDs in Battle Creek, Devices Rendered Safe

On 20 October 2025, at approximately 2330 hours, residents reported an explosion on Ridge Street in Battle Creek which prompted the Battle Creek PD (BCPD) and Fire Department to respond. Authorities discovered an improvised explosive device (IED) thrown under a parked RV and an additional IED (pipe bomb) that failed to function. The BCPD bomb squad secured and rendered safe the two discovered IEDs. No injuries were reported from the lone detonation. Authorities reported the incident was possibly a targeted attack and remains under investigation.

Illinois: DeKalb County Sheriff's Deputies Discover Homemade Explosive Devices at Residence

On 19 October 2025, DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on a residence in Kingston to recover stolen items. During the search, deputies discovered homemade explosive devices and drugs. The Kane County Bomb Squad responded and safely removed the devices. The 38-year-old male suspect faces felony charges, including four counts of illegal possession of explosives.

Michigan: Live World War II Era Hand Grenade Discovered at Residence

On 18 October 2025, the Carleton Police Department responded to a call for a suspicious item found in the home of a WWII veteran on Ash Street in Monroe County. The Michigan State Police (MSP) Bomb Squad determined it was a live, MK 1 illumination hand grenade, upon reviewing an X-ray of the device. The MSP technicians rendered the device safe and took it away for proper disposal.
