Hudson: On 1 May 2026, around 1300 local time, the Hudson Police Department began an investigation into a bomb threat at the Walmart on Hickory Boulevard in Hudson, NC. A 24‑year‑old male suspect called 911 claiming he saw a man with a grenade walk into the Walmart. Police located the suspect, and when approached, he removed a grenade from his pocket. Police cordoned off the area and evacuated the store. A standoff ensued and ended when officers determined the grenade was fake.

Tennessee: Grenade Found in East Ridge Goodwill Donation Pile; Rendered Safe

East Ridge: On 1 May 2026, the East Ridge Police Department and the Chattanooga Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team responded after a reported grenade found in a donation pile at the Goodwill located on Ringgold Road in Chattanooga, TN. The grenade was driven to the fire and police department by the Goodwill employee who discovered it. The device was described by police as having the appearance of a very old British grenade. The EOD team confirmed it was a grenade. They removed the device and rendered it safe with a controlled detonation.

Olympia: On 29 April 2026, around 1500 local time, Thurston County Sheriff’s Office deputies and the Washington State Police Bomb Squad responded to the 8800 block of Waddell Creek Road Southwest after a possible pipe bomb was found. The location is near the Capitol State Forest and a nearby residential area. The bomb squad recovered the device, which was confirmed to be an active explosive. The device measured approximately 11 inches by 2 inches and was wrapped in multiple layers of duct tape with a bike‑handle grip at one end. It was rendered safe by technicians.
