Cranston: On 13 April 2026, at approximately 1500 local time, Cranston Police responded to a home on Laten Knight Road after a resident found a grenade in a safe belonging to a deceased ex-husband. Firefighters staged nearby, and police closed the street as a precaution. The Rhode Island Fire Marshal's Bomb Squad determined the device was inert.

California: Grenade Discovered on 405 Freeway; Rendered Safe

Inglewood: On 10 April 2026, at approximately 1000 local time, the California Highway Patrol, Los Angeles County Fire Department, and the LACSO Bomb Squad responded to the 405 Freeway near Century Boulevard after a grenade was found on the road. All lanes were closed and a perimeter was established. The device was rendered safe, and the scene cleared roughly two hours later.

Pittsburgh: On 8 April 2026, at around 1130 local time, Pittsburgh Police and the bomb squad responded to the 500 block of East Ohio Street after a grenade was found on the porch of a local residence. Nearby residents and businesses were evacuated. The device was determined to be an inert training grenade. The area was declared safe around 1215 local time.

Cape Coral: On 7 April 2026, the Cape Coral Police Department Headquarters and nearby streets were temporarily closed after a citizen brought in an old grenade for disposal. Oklahoma: Incendiary Devices Found After House Fire; One Arrested

Arkoma: On 7 April 2026, the Arkoma Police Department responded to a house fire on State Line Road. After extinguishing the fire, officers arrested a 46-year-old male suspect. Inside the home, officials located two incendiary devices, one of which partially “sparked and incinerated” during bomb squad examination. As a precaution, Arkoma High School students were evacuated to the elementary campus. The devices reportedly contained everyday materials with built in shrapnel and BBs.

Oregon: Explosives Discovered During Vehicle Search; One Arrested

Eugene: On 7 April 2026, at approximately 0643 local time, Eugene Police responding to a noise complaint encountered a 26 year old male in the passenger seat of a car. The suspect fled into an apartment but was taken into custody. A search of the vehicle recovered two improvised explosive devices. The Metro Explosives Disposal Unit cleared the vehicle and took possession of the devices. Officers also found a firearm and suspected narcotics.

California: Juvenile Unearths Live 81mm Mortar; Device Removed Safely

Carmichael: On 6 April 2026, at approximately 1200 local time, Sacramento Sheriff’s Office EOD technicians, North Patrol deputies, and U.S. Air Force personnel responded to a residence on Marconi Avenue after a juvenile digging in the yard discovered a live 81mm mortar. EOD technicians confirmed the device was live and coordinated with USAF for removal and destruction.

California: Suspicious Device at Recycling Center Determined Inert

Burbank City: On 6 April 2026, at approximately 0700 local time, Burbank Police responded to the Burbank Recycle Center at 500 South Flower Street for a suspicious device resembling an artillery shell found on a conveyor belt. Officers established a multiblock perimeter. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Arson and Explosives Detail examined the device with specialized tools and a robot, determining it did not contain explosive material. Around 0850, the area was declared safe and roads were reopened. The origin of the device remains under investigation.
