Lyons: On 21 April 2026, while executing a federal search warrant at a residence on North Adrian Street, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office along with the Toledo Police, the Northwest Ohio Bomb Squad, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, discovered suspected explosive materials. Police recovered several powders and chemical substances, including thermite. The Northwest Ohio Bomb Squad secured the materials, and the scene was declared safe.

Ross Township: On 20 April 2026, deputies from the Butler County Sheriff’s Office responded to a private residence in Ross Township, OH, after explosive materials were discovered. The reporting party found the items while cleaning the home of a deceased relative. The BCSO Bomb Squad identified the materials as blasting caps and detonating cord stored in ammunition canisters. The items were removed and rendered safe through a controlled detonation.

Boulder County: On 19 April 2026, around 0800 local time, a reporting party found a metal case near Ponderosa Way in unincorporated Boulder County, CO. Upon opening the case, the individual discovered five suspected improvised explosive devices (IEDs) and contacted the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO). BCSO responded along with the Boulder County Regional Bomb Squad, which confirmed the devices and reported that the components made them potentially functional. Bomb technicians used a robot to transfer the devices into a containment trailer for removal and disposal.

North Carolina: IEDs Discovered During Traffic Stop; Two Arrested

Alexander County: On 17 April 2026, the Alexander County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop on US Highway 64 East on a 58‑year‑old male suspect who was driving erratically. During a search following the stop, deputies discovered several improvised explosive devices (IEDs) inside the vehicle. Deputies also recovered a firearm, methamphetamine, marijuana, and additional drug paraphernalia. After locating the IEDs, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation Bomb Squad responded to secure the devices.

South Carolina: C-4 Discovered in Open Lot; Removed Safely

Columbia: On 17 April 2026, the Columbia Police Department responded to a construction site in an open area on Fort Jackson Boulevard near a gas station in Columbia, SC, after 15 blocks of C-4 explosive were discovered. An Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team from Shaw Air Force Base (AFB) also responded to assist with the assessment. Police additionally found detonating cord and blasting caps. The Shaw AFB EOD team safely removed the explosives, and the scene was declared all clear at approximately 1230 local time.

The device was evaluated and rendered safe. The Major Crimes, Crime Scene, and Intelligence Divisions are investigating.

Aberdeen: On 15 April 2026, the Grays Harbor Drug Task Force and the Aberdeen Police Department served a search warrant at a residence on Arthur Street during a narcotics investigation. Officers located a suspicious device and contacted the Washington State Patrol Bomb Squad, which safely removed it. Two suspects—a 29 year old male and a 28 year old female—were arrested on multiple controlled substance charges. The male suspect also faces charges related to incendiary devices.

Annapolis: On 14 April 2026, the Maryland Natural Resources Police Tactical Response Team executed a search warrant on a residence on Blackwalnut Lane, assisted by the Anne Arundel County Fire Marshal, the FBI, the ATF, and the Annapolis Fire Department. Investigators seized numerous suspected explosive devices, bomb‑making materials, firearms, optics, suppressors, and ammunition. A 37-year-old male suspect was arrested on 32 counts of manufacturing a destructive device and 32 counts of possession of a destructive device, with more charges pending.

Vermont: IEDs Discovered During Police Call; Devices Removed Safely

Barre: On 14 April 2026, at approximately 2000 local time, Barre Police encountered suspicious devices while serving legal process at a residence on County Way. The Vermont Hazmat Response Team and the Vermont State Police Bomb Squad confirmed the devices were explosives. The items were baseball sized devices with fuses and located near an unidentified powder. No charges have been filed.
