The EOD team recovered the spent flare and added it to their ordnance library for training purposes.

Lewisville: On 18 May 2026, the Lewisville Police Department and the Denton Police and Fire Departments’ Bomb Squad responded to Lake Park at Lake Lewisville on Sandy Beach Road after a beachgoer discovered a suspicious device along the shoreline. Bomb technicians confirmed it was a pipe bomb and destroyed it at the scene. Police suspect the device may have been intended for illegal use to kill fish for easier catches.

The suspect provided the devices to the undercover officer, which were later tested by the FBI and determined to be viable and capable of causing serious injury, death, or property damage. The suspect was reported to be a member of a group engaged in anti‑U.S.
