Norwalk: On 30 March 2026 in the early afternoon, the Norwalk Police Department (NPD) discovered a potential explosive device inside a backpack along a bike trail in the 500 block of Beardsley Street. The Des Moines Police Bomb Squad examined the contents and found energetic materials, including: a metal box filled with nails, an unidentified powder, and a canister of butane fuel taped to an unmarked plastic container.

The bomb squad rendered the device safe and dismantled it for further analysis. The investigation is ongoing.

BCSO determined the item was a military training grenade with no explosive component. It was turned over to Patrick Space Force Base’s EOD team. The investigation is ongoing.

Ohio: Pipe Bomb Like Device Found on Roadside; Bomb Squad Removes It

North Lima: On 24 March 2026 at approximately 1800 local time, Beaver Township Police responded to the 12000 block of Market Street after a device resembling a pipe bomb was found in the roadway. Police closed the road and contacted the Youngstown Police Department Bomb Squad.

The device was rendered safe and removed. The road was subsequently reopened. Police later stated the device did not appear to be a functional pipe bomb.

Petersburg Police and Virginia State Police (VSP) responded, prompting evacuation of a section of South Street between Lee Avenue and Wilcox Street.

VSP’s explosives team removed the device. The area was reopened around 1900 local time. Authorities later determined the item was a smoke grenade.
