Murfreesboro: On 5 March 2026, personnel from the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Unit, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and the Murfreesboro Fire‑Rescue Department responded to an apartment complex on Lyons Farm Parkway after a cache of suspected munitions was discovered.

Kansas: Large Police Response to Explosive Found in Mobile Home; Safely Removed

Augusta: On 4 March 2026 at approximately 1523 local time, Butler County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a private residence on the 11000 block of Southwest Shumway Road after a woman cleaning an abandoned mobile home discovered what appeared to be explosives. The Wichita Police Department Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team, the FBI, and the Augusta Fire Department responded and secured the area.

Texas: Denton Bomb Squad Safely Detonates Antique Explosive

On 2 March 2026 at approximately 1000 local time, Denton and Highland Village authorities safely detonated an antique explosive device purchased by a private individual. The item contained a small amount of picric acid, a historically used military explosive and a highly toxic substance. The device was transported to a park with assistance from the Highland Village Police and Fire Departments and the Dallas–Fort Worth Airport Bomb Squad, where it was rendered safe.

South Carolina: Bomb-Making Materials Recovered; One Arrested

Cherryvale: On 28 February 2026, at approximately 2145 local time, officers responded to a report of a man who had “accidentally shot himself” while sitting in his vehicle at Veterans Memorial Park. First responders arrived and provided medical aid. While securing the vehicle, officers observed a handgun and BB gun in plain view. A detective also located what appeared to be a pipe bomb, according to a Sumter Police Department spokesperson. The area was cleared, and state and federal agencies were notified.

Illinois: Homemade bombs discovered during search of residence; safely removed, one arrested

DeKalb: On 27 February 2026, Dekalb Police and the DeKalb County Special Operations Team served a search warrant on a private residence on the 1000 block of North 15th Street in DeKalb, IL. During the search, police recovered multiple firearms, automatic switches for Glocks, two kilograms of cannabis, a “large quantity” of prescription drugs, between 15 and 100 grams of cocaine, body armor, and suspected homemade bombs. The Kane County Bomb Squad responded to the scene and removed the suspected bombs.

North Carolina: Grenades found in home during cleaning; safely removed

Culberson: On 26 February 2026, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation bomb squad responded to a residence after two devices were found while family members were cleaning the home of a deceased relative. The devices were identified as a smoke grenade and a MK2 pineapple grenade in stable condition. Both devices were removed safely for later disposal. No criminal charges are pending due to owner being deceased.

Oregon: Police discover homemade bombs while serving a search warrant; removed safely, one arrested

Gresham: On 25 February 2026, Gresham Police and Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a 44-year-old male suspect at his residence on Southeast 19th Street in Gresham, OR, on charges stemming from production of child sexual abuse materials (CSAM) and homemade bombs. Investigators were serving a search warrant for CSAM when they discovered the homemade bombs in the suspect’s house. In addition to charges on the CSAM, the suspect was charged with possession of a destructive device and unlawful manufacturing of a destructive device.

Massachusetts: Man arrested, multiple guns and explosive devices recovered from residence, one arrested

Southbridge: On 25 February 2026, a 46-year-old man was arrested after Southbridge Police executed a search warrant at the individual’s residence. Officers report they removed the resident from the home, searched the property and found several firearms, high-capacity magazines, a substantial amount of ammunition and what they described as grenade-style explosive devices:

Wisconsin: Police seize 13 pipe bombs during search warrant; devices removed, one arrested

Green Bay: On 24 February 2026, Green Bay Police arrested a 31-year-old male suspect on drug charges at the suspect’s home on 16th Avenue in Green Bay, WI. Police were investigating the suspect after they learned he was planning on mailing methamphetamine through the mail. The US Postal Service seized the package and turned it over to local police; the package tested positive for methamphetamine and cocaine. During the search of the residence, police recovered firearms, some appeared homemade, and at least 13 homemade explosives which were constructed using a variety of methods.
