Bowdoinham: On 21 March 2026 at approximately 1427 local time, the Maine State Police Bomb Squad and Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office responded to a property on White Road after a M374 81mm mortar round was discovered. An X‑ray indicated the device might still contain energetic material, and it was removed to be rendered safe at a secure location.

Maine: Live Mk2 Grenade Found While Cleaning; Safely Removed

Winslow: On 21 March 2026 at approximately 1536 local time, the Maine State Police Bomb Squad, Winslow Police, Winslow Fire Department, and the Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office responded to a residence on Main Street after a live Mk2 grenade was discovered during a household clean‑out. The device was safely removed for later disposal.

Tennessee: Fisherman Discovers Unexploded Military Ordnance

Clinton: On 19 March 2026 at approximately 1430 local time, the Anderson County Sheriff’s Department and the Knox County Bomb Squad responded to Bull Run Park after a fisherman discovered unexploded military ordnance. Additional items resembling military ordnance were also found in the same area by the bomb squad.

The park was temporarily closed during the search but later reopened. Authorities determined all recovered items were inert and posed no hazard.

Wisconsin: Suspected WWI Ordnance Found in Basement; Turned Over to Bomb Squad

Beloit: On 17 March 2026 at approximately 1519 local time, Beloit Police and Fire Departments responded to a residence on Chatsworth Drive after possible World War I–era ordnance was discovered in the basement. The Wisconsin National Guard Civil Support Team and Rock County Emergency Management also responded.

The device was examined and determined not to pose a threat. It was safely removed and transferred to the Dane County Bomb Squad for disposal.

Maine: Flash Bang Grenade Booby Trap Rendered Safe; One in Custody

Brunswick: On 17 March 2026 at approximately 1720 local time, Brunswick Police responded to an apartment complex on the north end of Federal Street after a male suspect involved in an altercation with a firearm claimed he had attached a grenade to his apartment door.

Police observed a wire protruding from the door jamb and summoned the Portland Police Bomb Squad. Technicians determined the wire was attached to the safety pin of a device just inside the door. The device was rendered safe and identified as a consumer‑grade flash‑bang grenade.

Oregon: Suspect Arrested After Hoax Device Found Near Rose Quarter MAX Station

Portland: On 17 March 2026 around 0815 local time, the Metropolitan Explosive Device Unit (MEDU) responded to an area near the Moda Center after reports of a suspicious cylindrical device, approximately 8–10 inches long and wrapped in tape. Deputies arrested a male suspect who admitted the device contained steel ball bearings but no explosive material.

Essex: On 16 March 2026 at approximately 1600 local time, a local resident entered the lobby of the Essex Police Department carrying a device they found while metal detecting on their property. Authorities immediately evacuated the police station as a precaution.

Massachusetts State Police Bomb Squad responded and used X‑ray imaging to determine the object was not an explosive. The device was identified as an empty fuel canister resembling a mortar shell.

Limington: On 16 March 2026 around 1730 local time, an individual discovered a suspected grenade near a dumpster on Number 1 Road. Troopers from the Southern Field Troop responded and identified the object as potentially hazardous. The Maine State Police Bomb Squad responded and attempted an X‑ray, which showed no energetic material.

The device, resembling a military‑style M67 hand grenade, was rendered safe through controlled detonation.

Fort Meade: On 16 March 2026, a group of children discovered a military training grenade in an open lot. Polk County Fire Rescue (PCFR) responded to a call regarding unexploded ordnance. PCFR secured the area while the State Fire Marshal Bomb Squad investigated and retrieved the device. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office also responded.

Waterloo: On 13 March 2026 at approximately 1130 local time, the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office discovered multiple sticks of dynamite, a live grenade, and approximately 20 pounds of gunpowder inside a residence on Brewer Road. The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Hazardous Device Squad and the Seneca County K9 Unit responded to the scene.
