Troopers recovered six half‑sticks of suspected dynamite, a firearm, fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana, and various pills, along with materials associated with narcotics distribution. ATF and FBI responded to assist. A subsequent search of the suspect’s home uncovered additional narcotics.

Oregon: On 4 June 2026, around 1600 local time, the Ogle County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Unit, the Detective Division, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office Bomb Squad, and ATF responded to a disturbance call at a residence on West Indian Heights Drive.  Deputies reported hearing gunshots during the emergency call. Upon arrival, they arrested a 33‑year‑old male suspect found alone with a loaded pistol and an explosive device; a prescription pill bottle filled with buckshot and gunpowder. A drone was deployed to clear the residence prior to entry.

Portland: On 3 June 2026, while serving a high‑risk search warrant at a residence on Florence Street, the South Portland Police Department and the Southern Maine Regional SWAT team discovered black powder and an unidentified suspicious substance. The Portland Police Bomb Squad evaluated the material and determined it did not pose a threat to the public. The bomb squad removed the black powder, and officers arrested a 40‑year‑old male suspect on charges of criminal use of explosives, with additional charges possible.

Los Angeles: On 3 June 2026, around 0900 local time, the Los Angeles Police Department and bomb technicians responded to a home on Rhodes Avenue after a concerned citizen discovered 20 sticks of dynamite while cleaning a garage freezer. Bomb technicians confirmed the dynamite was active and evacuated residents within a 500‑foot radius as a precaution. The dynamite was rendered safe by soaking it in diesel fuel and then removed. The resident reported she was cleaning out belongings following her husband’s recent death and did not know the source of the dynamite.

Salina: On 2 June 2026, the Salina Police Department, the State Fire Marshal, the Riley County Police Department Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit, and the Salina Fire Department Hazardous Materials team executed a search warrant at a residence on Page Avenue as part of an investigation into two recent arsons. Inside the home, police found suspected homemade fireworks, explosive devices, and chemical precursors. EOD technicians safely removed the materials.
