Mobile: On 12 May 2026, the Gulf Coast Regional Maritime Response and Render‑Safe Team, Mobile County Sheriff’s Office, FBI Bomb Squad, Mobile Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal Detail, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Bomb Squad, and Daphne Search and Rescue Team responded to the Converse Reservoir dam after a dive team performing routine maintenance identified a “grenade‑type IED.” Bomb technicians with the Render‑Safe Team retrieved the device and conducted a controlled detonation to render it safe. The investigation into the placement of the IED is ongoing.
